Summer is here and with it comes long warm days, glorious sunshine and the perfect time for entertaining. It’s time to dust off the outdoor furniture, plump up the cushions and add a splash of colour to the dining table.

One of the easiest things you can do to lift the winter blues is to replace your drab or dark accessories with lighter and brighter ones for a fresh new look. Cushions are simple to update and there are plenty of ready made options to choose from. Whether you go for bohemian style patterns, soft pastel hues or bright colours (especially outdoors), the options are endless. Mix and match for maximum impact or keep things simple, it’s up to you. Bold patterns and strong pops of colour lend a sense of fun.

The Australian Summer lends itself to Bbq's and casual outdoor celebrations with warm evenings and long days. Whether it's drinks on the terrace or dinner overlooking the pool the holiday season is perfect for entertaining and whether you are celebrating the festive season or just gathering family and friends around for a get together, accents of colour will help to create a less formal, relaxed atmosphere.

Outdoor rugs can break up a terrace or deck into living areas and dining zones. An outdoor rug can add colour and texture or be natural and neutral simply anchoring furniture. If your outdoor area has seen better days then an outdoor rug will also help hide some of the damaged flooring or deck.

Plump cushions will add comfort and colour and can help create a mood or feeling. Pale blues, greens and soft pastels will help to create a relaxed, coastal vibe whilst neutrals will keep things simple. The addition of coloured ceramics, timber serving bowls and floral centrepieces will ensure your dining table is far from boring.
